John Louie, Ph.D., is a UNR Professor Emeritus of Geophysics at the Nevada Seismological Laboratory. He is also the Chief Geophysicist at Terean. For the past 25 years John has been working in the area of earthquake hazard evaluation.

Depending upon the shape, thickness and composition of the earth's mantle, the waves of energy generated by an earthquake can vary substantially from one location compared to another in a given region.
