Last week we heard from Stephanie Rempe, our new Athletic Director at the University of Nevada.  Her duties includes hiring and supervising coaches, recruiting student-athletes, ensuring compliance with NCAA rules and regulations, developing budgets and fundraising plans, and overseeing facilities and equipment. 

 

She described current projects being completed at this time, future projects in the final planning stages, and several future needs.  She is data-driven and has emphasized the importance of making decisions based upon sound information. 

 

We also heard the impact of name-image-likeness payment rules and the transfer portal on collegiate sports and the need to create appropriate guardrails in the future.  Go Pack!

Preparation are underway for an exciting weekend with fellow Rotarians at beautiful Lake Tahoe.  The District 5190 Conference promises many fun activities and excellent motivating presentations.

 

Reno Sunrise Rotary will be able to toot our horn for this past year's accomplishments.  Thanks to everyone in the club who stepped up to make this a successful year!

We are not having a morning meeting this Friday, April 28.  However, I suspect some of the Purple Parrot group will meet as usual at the Atlantis.

 

Our next meeting is on May 5 when we will hear about the Rotary International and Toastmasters International Alliance.
