With our guest speaker unexpectedly out sick, President Dave took center stage to deliver an impromptu program. Between sharing a video of Craig and friends conquering Freel Peak and hosting a rollicking game of musical Jeopard, where points were arbitrary and winners nonexisten, Dave kept the entire room smiling. We wish our scheduled speaker a speedy recovery and thank Dave for a memorable morning of fellowship!
Foundation Update: Multiplying Our Impact with EREY and PolioPlus
Lynn Clark took the podium at our last meeting to rally Reno Sunrise behind Rotary Foundation giving.
Lynn highlighted our goal for 100% club participation in Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY). A simple $25 minimum contribution from every member to the Annual Fund not only supports worldwide initiatives, but also returns an extra $900 in District 5190 grant funding right back to our club for local projects.
Lynn also called on members to support PolioPlus. Rotary has channeled over $2 billion into global eradication, and the world is closer than ever to ending the disease. However, with 42 wild polio cases in Afghanistan and 7 in Pakistan reported last year, our continued donations are essential to finish the job. Every contribution makes a tangible difference—both locally in District 5190 and across the globe.
If you are uncomfortable sending the funds through the Rotary International website, you can bring Lynn a check made out to Rotary International and instructions on where you would like the funds directed.
Fall festivities were in full swing across our community, and our club was proud to be part of the celebration. Over the past few weeks, members and friends teamed up to assist with fall festivals at Huffaker, Libby Booth, and Echo Loder Elementary Schools.
The acvities included supervising games, painting faces, tallying votes for carved pumpkin contests, or slinging snacks at the concession stand. Our volunteers were on hand to make each event run smoothly. The best part of the day was seeing the smiles on the faces of the children and parents as they celebrated together. A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time to support our local school communities!
