Come help at the Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival

The Rotary Club of Reno Sunrise will be setting up the beer and wine station at the Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival this coming weekend.

Martha announced that we still need more volunteers to help with setup, sales, service, and breakdown.  If you haven't signed up yet, please do so from the link you received from Lynn Clark.  If you can't find it, simply show up, enjoy the music, and help out as needed.

Ed Basl on Travel Tips and Tricks

Ed Basl is a frequent international traveler and presented his tips and tricks to the club.

To get the most out of airline miles and hotel benefits requires careful selection of travel cards and manipulation of points.  Ed keeps his eyes out for cards with generous new account benefits.  If he refers a friend or his wife, he can obtrain additional credits.  Some cards have a higher annual fee, but for a frequent traveler the fee is more than made up for by using points and discounts.

If you are interested in learning more, Ed enjoys counseling travelers on his methods to maximize rewards from various sources.

Dave Sundstrom on ShelterBox

Dave Sundstrom is a member of Reno Sunrise Rotary Club and ambassador for ShelterBox.

ShelterBox has a goal of helping people rebuild and be self-sufficient after a disaster.  It is partnered with Rotary International and has served 3 million people since it was created.

Tools, cooking supplies, water purifiers, blankets and solar-powered flashlights and lanters are included in their kits, modified to meet the particular needs.  The solar-powered lights have USB ports to charge cell phones.  The kits are often put together using local sources which provides economic benefits as well.

It seems we are having more conflicts and disasters throughout the world with an estimated 130 million displaced individuals.  ShelterBox is there to help them get back on their feet.
