We won't be having a meeting this Friday, but please join members and friends of Rotary for our monthly social gathering (see upcoming events for details).
Our main speaker today was an inbound Rotary Youth Exchange student from the Barcelona Spain area. Mireia is hosted by the Rotary Club of International Exchange and lives in Incline Village. Her host dad is Rick Sweeney, who is the Area 3 Governor, and a member of the District Rotary Youth Exchange Committee.
Mireia talked about some of her experiences as an exchange student, including having the opportunity to march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. Her high school cheer team was one of 30 schools chosen to march in the parade. 11 students from Mireia's high school were chosen to go to the parade. The students from all of the 30 schools marched as one large group, which required several rehearsal sessions once they arrived in New York. Reno Sunrise Rotary helped to pay for Mireia's trip to New York.
Four Rotary Club of Reno Sunrise members and the daughter of one, volunteered at the Carnival this afternoon and evening. Thank you to Dave, Lynn, Lynn’s daughter Erin, John Albrecht and Berry.
The Rotary Club of Reno Sunrise Charitable Foundation provided a $5,000 donation to CARE Chest. Marcie, Dave, and Berry delivered the check to Anne McNulty, CEO, CARE Chest. For more details of the good things achieved by CARE Chest, check out CAREChest.
