I missed the last meeting to join two friends to hike Arc Dome. Arc Dome is an 11,871 foot peak in the Toiyabe Range south of Austin, Nevada. Each year we choose a different Nevada peak to climb. This round trip hike was 13 miles long with a net vertical of about 4,500 feet. The landscape, tree carvings and views were fantastic. This is my fourth time to the top of this peak and each trip was special. Nice basic campground with access to the Toiyabe Crest Trail. Basque tree carving - "Los ojos lo miran." It seems to mean "The eyes that watch", but I could use help with the translation. High plateau at midpoint - over 10,000 foot elevation Arc Dome looming in the distance At the top - 11,871 feet |
