This Friday's raffle will include two freshly baked sourdough loaves!  The ingredients are only flour, salt and water which is naturally leavened.  This week's offering will contain freshly milled einkorn and rye flour.

Jeff Scott gave an informative talk about how the Washoe County Library System improvements and expansion efforts.  They provide safe areas for children to enjoy programs and get excited about reading.  I was interested in taking advantage of their Kindle-friendly book rentals, newspaper access, and audio books.  Its time to get reacquainted with your local library!

Our March service project is to help sort food items for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.  So far we have 7 Rotarians and 2 Guests registered, but could use more hands on deck.  It is only a 2 hour work commitment and is fun to boot.  If possible, please sign up to give back to our community.

The Area 8 Foundation Dinner will be held on March 24 at the Nugget Casino Resort.  All members have received an invitation email.  If you didn't receive one, please let me know.

 

The speaker for the event will be Irene Perbal.  Perbal is the subject of the short film, "Irene Perbal - Of Hope and Hate" capturing the memory and message she has shared virtually her entire life.  As a girl in Amsterdam, she survived the Nazi occupation, surveillance, Allied bombing and the Hongerwinter of 1945.

In addition, we will honoring clubs and members for their achievements over the past year.  This is a nice time to socialize with members throughout Area 8.
