Last Week - Poetry by Doug Hill

Member Doug Hill has always loved reading poetry and gave his reasons why during his presentation last week.  He clarified definitions of poems, showed how pervasive they are in our world (political speeches, advertisement jingles, etc.) and shared one of his favorite ones by Robert Frost, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening."  He also encouraged us to create our own poems.  For example, he suggested sending poetic text messages to friends for a change of pace.  It is fun and a bit challenging as well.  Try it!
Betty Visits from Warmer Climate

We had a surprise visit from Betty Buchler, seen here with Ed Basl.  She has been a Rotarian since 1995 and spends a lot of her time in the Caribbean.  It was great to see Betty and get caught up.
Giving Back at Foodbank of Northern Nevada

We had a great time helping out at the Foodbank of Northern Nevada last Saturday.  During our two hours we boxed a total of 10,900 lbs of food!  We all received heartfelt thanks and bouquets of flowers to take home.  It feels good to give back to our community.
