Social Event Friday - The Eddy

We are DARK Friday morning. This month's social event, courtesy of our social director Nick Connell, is being held at The Eddy, 16 S. Sierra St, Downtown Reno, from 4 pm until whenever. This is a pleasant outdoor venue with excellent food and beverages to please all palates. Come join us to get caught up on fishing stories and the latest gossip!

Last Week's Presentation - Rebecca Eckland

Past President Shawn stepped in for Pres Craig at yesterday's meeting. Rebecca Eckland, the Communications and Marketing Director of the Nevada Museum of Art, told us about one of the current exhibits at the museum. The Ghost Army exhibit is about a WWII classified operation whose goal was to make the German forces think that we had troops in an area where we did not have troops. To do this the U.S. Army developed life size inflatable tanks, trucks, aircraft, etc. which were used to give the appearance of troops and equipment in locations where there were no real fighting units. It is an exhibit that is a must see.

And Rebecca briefly discussed the major museum expansion which will allow many of the permanent collections that are in storage to be displayed.

Next Meeting June 2 - Trauma Intervention of Northern Nevada

Our next meeting will be on June 2. We will be hearing from Greg Nauman of the Trauma Intervention Program of Northern Nevada. They provide well-trained citizen volunteers at emergency scenes to assist family members, witnesses, and other bystanders whom the emergency system often must leave behind. See you then!
