John 's Birthday Celebration

We had another fun meeting this morning.  Today is John's birthday, and to help him celebrate it President Dave presented John with a birthday pancake that was prepared by Two Chicks.

Tai Chi
The program this morning was about Tai Chi. Michael Groff has been teaching Tai Chi for many years. He started with a brief history. Tai Chi started in China about 500 years ago. It is a mind-body practice that combines slow, graceful movements, deep breathing, and meditation. Originally there were 108 Tai Chi moves. However when it came to the west the number of moves was reduced to about 25 (depending on which Tai Chi practice is being followed).
Tai Chi improves strength, flexibility, aerobic conditioning and balance. It also helps to improve cardiovascular fitness, lower blood pressure, prevent falls and help people who have arthritis.
After talking about Tai Chi, Michael spent about 10 minutes leading us in some Tai Chi movements.
