Paul J. Hauptman, M.D. is the dean of the University of Nevada School of Medicine.  Dean Hauptman presented the challenges facing medical education today.

 

One of his goals is to expand post-graduate opportunities for the students, which will lead to more physicians remaining in our state to fill current provider shortages.  He also discussed building on the school's clinical research which will be beneficial for our community. 

 

It was a pleasure to hear from Dean Hauptman.  His strong leadership is greatly appreciated.

Our newest member, Steve Schroder, would like as many members as possible to participate in the KTMB Truckee River Clean-up on September 16.  Please mark your calendars with the date and keep your eyes open for an email that will have the sign-up link.  This is a great way to help our local environment and I hope you are able to participate.

A few members asked me to include a few photographs of my backpacking trip in Yosemite last week.  I joined John Gray, one of my colleagues, for a 4-day 3-night trip that included climbing Clouds Rest and Half Dome.  It has been years since I visited Yosemite and the views remain spectacular.
