TMCC Workforce Development Program by Kimberly Harrell

Kimberly Harrell is  is the Dean of the Technical Sciences Division at Truckee Meadows Community College.  She spoke about how the program is training individuals with the skills necessary to get technological employment by local businesses.

The technological areas include advanced manufacturing (e.g. robotics), air conditioning, architecture and design, automotive, diesel (including the huge mining vehicles), machining, and welding.

The center closely interacts with the local technology companies to make sure that the training programs are state of the art and will meet the market demands.  This both helps the businesses, but also protects the students in that they will be able to be employed after completion of their studies.  Many businesses, for example Tesla, not only cover the tuition costs, but provide the student with a salary during the training process.
