Our speaker today was Luke Sorenson, horticulturist for the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Luke’s family roots in Nevada date back to the 1850s, and landscape design has been a tradition among many of his ancestors.

Luke gave an informative and humorous presentation about one of our community’s hidden gems—the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden, located within Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. The arboretum is free to visit and offers a refreshing escape from the summer heat, thanks to its abundant shade and inviting water features.

Charlie Fettig did a fabulous job running the meeting today, covering for President Dave during his temporary absence.  Thanks Charlie!

Charlie presented our youngest member, Amelia, with a Rotary Apron to acknowledge her assistance with many of our recent club service events.  Her mother and member, Chelsea, placed the apron.  Congratulations and thank you Amelia!

Join the Rotary Club of Reno Sunrise as we assist the staff of Libby Booth Elementary School with their back-to-school event. Volunteers will help welcome students and families and support event activities as the school community prepares for a successful new year.
