The Washoe County School District Superintendent, Susan Enfield, was our speaker last Friday.  She provided information on the state of the district and some of the challenges faced.  For example, the starting salary of a new teacher is about $42,000, which means that the teacher may qualify for subsidized housing.

 

Dr. Enfield described the goals of the district and discussed the "District Promise" statement.

 

Roger Lindeken paid us a visit last Friday.  Roger joined Reno Sunrise about 6 months after the club was chartered.  He has since moved to Arizona and is active in the Rotary club near his home.

 

The Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival is this Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  Reno Sunrise Rotary Club will be selling beer and wine at the event and welcome any assistance.  If you haven't yet volunteered, please do so.  Refer to the prior email invitation for volunteers.  Not only will you help out the club, but will hear some darn nice tunes as well.
