We heard from Dr. Hilary Lopez, Executive Director of the Reno Housing Authority last week.  Through their efforts and government support they have provided 9,000 residents in 4,000+ households affordable housing.  Two thirds of the residents are elderly or have disabilities.  If you are a landlord who currently accepts vouchers, has accepted vouchers in the past, is interested in accepting vouchers, or have no idea what a voucher is, then you should attend their workshop on Thursday, March 16 (however, you must RSVP by March 10).  https://nvhousingcoalition.org/events/

Come join us for a service event at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada on March 18, 2023.  This is a chance to give back to our community through our actions.  It is only a 2 hour commitment and is fun to boot.  If you haven't already signed up I encourage you to reconsider.

The Area 8 Foundation Dinner will be held on March 24 at the Nugget Casino Resort.  All members have received an invitation email.  If you didn't receive one, please let me know.

 

The speaker for the event will be Irene Perbal.  Perbal is the subject of the short film, "Irene Perbal - Of Hope and Hate" capturing the memory and message she has shared virtually her entire life.  As a girl in Amsterdam, she survived the Nazi occupation, surveillance, Allied bombing and the Hongerwinter of 1945.

In addition, we will honoring clubs and members for their achievements over the past year.  This is a nice time to socialize with members throughout Area 8.
