We had the pleasure of hearing from Eric Brown who serves as Washoe County Manager.  He was first appointed to the position by the Washoe County Commissioners in 2019.  Washoe County has a population of 501,700 which spans 6,542 square miles and a annual budget of $1.07 billion.

Mr. Brown described the organization of the county and some of the key accomplishments over the past year.  One key accomplishment includes planning and coordination of a county wide first responder computer dispatch system which will improve response times in times of emergency.  Other accomplishments have included extending broadband access to Gerlach, the Lemmon Valley flood mitigation plan, and allocation of $91 million in Federal funds through the Community Reinvestment Program.
